UK Inflation April 2018

The UK inflation figures for both CPIH (Consumer Price Index inc housing costs) and CPI (Consumer Price Index) both dropped slightly in April 2018.  Moving to a 12 month rate of 2.2% and 2.4% respectively.  Air fares were the largest downward contribution partly influenced by the timing of Easter this year, which motor fuel produced the largest upward effect.

The rates have fallen back from highs of 2.8% in autumn 2017 and are currently at the lowest level since January 2017, although they are still above the BoE target of 2%.
